Did you hear about the cancer-stricken English teacher who had part of his bowel removed?

I teach 8th grade English, and let me tell you, the semicolon is a daunting task. This got me laughing this morning-thanks.

But you love lists! And sometimes you need semicolons in lists of cool things, such as: Darth Vader; unicorns; books; shoes; books about shoes; Rejectionists.

Gotta love the semicolon.

One word; AWESOME.

That was great.

I do think you can use a semicolon randomlly in the middle of a sentence as long as it serves as a coat hanger.

Hahahahaha. I love you. Semi-colons are one of my favourite things second only to brackets. I don't use them that much though so it's great to know they make handy coat hooks!

:)

or should I say ;D ?

Very creative. Me? I'm afraid of the darned things. I'll let an editor tell me when to use them.

Semi-colons also make great dead bug streaks on your windshield.

Birthday candles?!?! How come no one ever thought of this before? Now there is no excuse for being stingy with candles for someone's 81st birthday.

Jess said...

Wait. You mean to tell me that I've been using; semicolons wrong all along?

I'm not allowed to use semi-colons anymore. Not since I realized my first MS averaged one per paragraph. The semi-colon has not taken the break-up very well. It stalks me, haunts my dreams, taunts me with its easy ways. But I stand strong!

One day, maybe we we can be friends. But for now, it's better to just keep a clean break.
